In June of 2011 a group of writers artists and poets got together on a facebook page to work on an anthology to raise funds for The Gypsy Council. This happened following the eviction of Gypsys and Travellers at Dale Farm in Basildon Essex UK.The innovator of this was Geoffrey Raymond Neville an Australian who is the son of the legendry horse jockey Ray Neville.

This idea has now developed into an exciting enterprise with over 40 poets writers artists and supporters involved on this anthology. The publishers Francis Boutle are fully behind this project along with other organisations such as The Gypsy Council,Gypsy Heritage,Romany Gypsy Photograph Collection and individuals such as the showbiz legend and Traveller David Essex OBE.

Contributors come from well known and respected people within the travelling and Gypsy community as well as supporters from across many continents.

I undertook the task of editing the draft of the book and supporting Geoff and encouraging people to get involved. We hope to have the book which will be called The Story Tellers out around June 2012.

The theme of the book is The Story Tellers the nomadic peoples of the world who sat around campfires and passed on the stories to their people long before schools colleges and the internet.Stories which became folklore and their education and to some extent these still survive to the present day.

If anyone wishes to be involved in this project or can assist us with publicity or can help in any other way please get in touch.
