GRANDMAS HOUSE

We went to visit grandmas house

with roses around the door

with scented dreams on innocence

just like folks did once before

We sat down at her table

ate jam scones by the score

with buttered crusts of breads so rich

like the royalty for sure

we walked out in her garden rich

with apples hanging free

cherry's ripe for picking

lots gooseberry's for you and me

We gathered all life's offerings

blessings one by one

like children of the innocence

and blessings by the score

The days were full of sunshine dreams

wishes fit to see

with trips out on the painted bus

to places by the sea

we had such lovely picnics then

we shared such fun and more

we counted all our blessings then

through grandmas open door.

WHEN I GROW UP

When i grow up i want to be

a master of divinity

these were the words he said to me

When i grow up tall and proud

il wear the grace

the cross and shroud

il write a sonnet every day

about the lord and his right way

When i am older wiser too

il ride the whirlwind of the Truth

il read the good book every day

then dream my dreams of yesterday

When i grew older and wiser too

il fight the good fight

put the world to right

solve disputes and problems along the way

people will listen to what i say

When i grow up learned and wise

il see the Truth in all mens eyes

il travel the world and preach gods plan

then everyone will understand

When i grow up tall and proud

il carry my cross

talk quite loud

il preach a sermon every day

then write of love

till come what may.

JOYS AND INNOCENCE

Childhood days and winter night

a walk to bed by candle light

a flickering flame

a common prayer

a word to god

a child in prayer

Days of joy and innocence so free

of country picnics beneath the apple trees

a dog to run with and call your own

a summer fair and carousel

days to recall when your alone

a day when life was so young and swell

a happy time beneath the sun

across the fields where rabbits ran

He morning bus ride to the school

the games of chance and fun at Poole

the pretty clothes that the girls all wore

the games of conkers in the fall

the Christmas tree and firelight glow

the winter frosts and falling snow

The winds of change which blew the land

the forest glades

the purbeck lands and golden sands

the friends and family gathered around

the merry trips to London town

The Xmas cakes and chocolate logs

the memories left out in the fog

the tunes we sang

the ropes we spun

oh the joys and innocence of the young.

WEYMOUTH SANDS

Us kids all went to weymouth to build castles in the sand

with our pockets full of shillings in days when life was grand

We took our sandwiches and honey wrapped up in paper towels

we counted all our blessings then and waved at all the cows

The journey was delightful with pastures all the way

sheep and ponies in the paddocks and OH what a holiday

the sun was out and shining the clouds were cotton wool

my brother brought his lizard pet and i brought my comics too

The town was full of people there were deck chairs by the sand

you could smell the sea spray in the breeze and hear the big brass SALVATION band

we saw the fairgrounds carousel and bought a currant bun

there were lots of ice cream vendors there and a fat man on a drum

The sand was so inviting and the sea was warm and clean

there were tourists in the shops nearby it was a most delightful scene

I saw the punch and Judy show set up there on the sands

there was lots of candy floss and pop with gals in summer gowns

Weymouth sure looked beautiful such a busy little town

there were open top buses flying by with children cheering too

My brother built a sand castle and my sister played the fool

The boats were sailing in the bay and the cliffs looked quite a sight

i was playing in the sea and the crabs of my toes they had a bite-

ouch.

  JUST LIKE A CHILD

If i could live just like a child

with innocence and fancy wild

if i could dance upon a prayer

walk the lanes of heather

take you there

If i could dream and make them come true

then grant you wishes out of the blue

if i could play upon the green

with bill and Ben and the may queen

if i could write a million rhymes

then send them on upon a time

When kings and queens all rode the land

where roses grow in garland strands

where imps and fairies float away

across the ships moored in the bay

then we would have a holiday

Just like a child so pure and new

id take your hand and follow you

you'd tell me tales of long ago

id put my trust in you.

BYEGONE LULLABIES

A morning of dew drops

Pounding the floor

Of fauna and land of time before

Jingles of light breaking through the trees

As fairies and moonbeams gather near streams

How is the reflection of life come to you

By listen to stories of old times a few

Singing the lullibies written by dreamers

Of long winter nights and Christmas streamers

Oh for the days when childen did sing

Mystical rhymes of loveing dreams

Days of the past thats what they become

Lost in the moments of government funds.

WRITTEN BY Brenda Wills.

 THE MINISTER OF NURSERY RHYMES

He was the minister of nursery rhymes

His words were fast and free

He spoke in diction sweet and fine

So cute and eloquently

The nobles and the gentry

Queued to hear his verse

His rhymes and zany anecdotes

His funny words and hopes

The children of the secret world

Where fairies blew their dust

Where lords and ladies danced all day

Where verses chanced to trust

Here robins sang to greet the day

There was music song and dance

Where cows and pigs did frolic free

Where poets took their chance

The king was in the castle

The queen was singing rhymes

The blind man met the sailor boy

Where bo peep was home on time

The cow jumped oer the moon

The little dog did dance

The fairies danced to greet each day

The prince chose true romance

The minister of nursery rhymes

Counted out his themes

Amongst the humpty dumpty rhapsodies

All ready for the scene

The cards were shuffled freely

The hearts and ace of spades

The castle of enchantment

The lordship and his maid

There were ships that sailed there daily

All headed for the coast

With treasures chests and pirates bold

Rich stories to be told

Gulliver was born there

Along with loopy lou

There was singing in the chapel

Old king cole and little boy blue

The minstrel boy he read the lines

The parliament was packed

With noble knights and pretty sights

No room for politics and facts

The song was sung at daybreak

As the sun began to shine

There were five and twenty blackbird

And a poet on the vine.

JACK

Jack was nimble

jack was quick

but he burnt his bum

on that candlestick

Jill was crazy

Jill was fun

she fell down

and hurt her bum

Tom was fat

and tom was weak

he lost his voice

and couldn't speak

Why have cows got four legs

i don't know do you

you don't know

i don't know

neither does the cow

 Children playing

I saw the children play today

so frolics and so fun

i saw their joy and laughter

watched their merry dance begun

It was like there was no time

and that today was not yet born

i watched them idle away the hours

cast a fair old wishing spell

Saw them dance amongst the corn tops

and grasp every fleeting hour

their chase and run was endless

and their imaginations were set free

they wished the minutes past them

then laughed and played once more

oh the time it stood still

Though the night was drifting by

i heard their laughter

i saw their minds at play

it was springtime in the rockies

and the summer holiday.

  PLAY TIMES.

They ran in the sunshine they splashed in the puddles

they picked all the Flowers their lives just begun

they smiled in the sunshine they splashed in the rain

they joined hands together they ran down the lane

They awoke every morning to greet the new day

they laughed in the shadows they rolled in the hay

they skipped and they frolicked their dreams were as one

they giggled and frolicked oh did they have fun they shared all their sweets there

They shared all their tears

they joined in the fun there over those years

they sang songs together nursery rhymes too

little BO peep and little boy blue.

NURSERY TALES

A blind man at the table a beggar at the door

the storytellers leaving the children ask for more

the sun it shone since Friday the rivers running by

the robin sang for breakfast a song for you and i

Don't ask me many questions for the answers are plain to see

one duck went a walking one ship sailed out to sea

don't look out for the master the children came to call

one kid on a pony the other with his bat and ball

So play the guitar softly and sing a song of cheer

the boozers in the alley the sailors saying cheers

Four and twenty maidens all pretty to declare

one boys in the stable yard the others are at the fair

so curtsy to the queen my gal show your ankle sweet

there's cows out in the meadows the orchards apples sweet.
