LOVE AND ROMANTIC POETRY

Be careful what you pray for

Be careful what you ask for

With God it could come true

like the sparkles in the sunshine

the rainbow in the blue

be careful what you pray for

for your sure to find a friend

somewheres in the shadows

where love and glory ends

be careful what you ask for

for shes sure to turn your brain

turn your whole world upside down

on that mercy train

be careful where it takes you

through sunshine and the rain

her kisses they will thrill you

then Shel come back again

be careful what your seeking

for love will show the way

where glories everlasting

and blessings still remain

there's a light there in the tunnel

its plain for all to see

that shes taken all your heart my friend

they call it destiny.

lost notes to a love song

Swift was the love she promised

though like the whirlwind it declined

dreams crashed out in fal;se illusions

plus those thoughts all left behind

swift was the promises she made

like the seconds of her hands

like a card dealt out on the vine

far from the promises she made

like the closeness of her touch

lost there in the false moment

somewheres stranded on the vine

the gentle touch true handmaiden

who once blessed this love sanctuary

with pastures of lies and nothing less

planted so proud on the vine

the smoke of Truth eludes me now

like the feathers of a swan

with sacred words that promise nothing

like the last notes of a song

TWO WOMEN

two women in a kitchen

where they shared their thoughts and dreams

they fooled and had a scream

they cooked the apple pie

turned cartwheels then felt shy

two women in a kitchen

two women in a home

one dreamt of her tomorrows

the other felt so sad alone

one carried all her secrets

the other shared her dreams and woes

one had to care for young children

one really wanted to go home

ones hand stretched across the table

the others heart across the shores

one was destined for her true love

the other knew her place indoors

one prayed for true salvation

with grace and kisses sweet

one dared to dream anothers dream

one was truly so alone

had eyes across the street

one lived for tomorrow

the other rooted to the floor

ones heart was in the country

the other chained inside her doors

one blessed the day shed met him

with flowers and true love

the other was married to her obligations

prayed each day for help from above

one went to church each Sunday

always said her prayers

one was grateful for life's gardens

for the love of God upstairs

one had left behind her prison

the marriage just in name

the other studied law and god

but neither was to blame.

JOYS AND INNOCENCE

childhood days and winter night

a walk to bed by candle light

a flickering flame

a common prayer

a word to god

a child in prayer

days of joy and innocence so free

of country picnics beneath the apple trees

a dog to run with and call your own

a summer fair and carousel

days to recall when your alone

a day when life was so young and swell

a happy time beneath the sun

across the fields where rabbits ran

he morning bus ride to the school

the games of chance and fun at Poole

the pretty clothes that the girls all wore

the games of conkers in the fall

the Christmas tree and firelight glow

the winter frosts and falling snow

the winds of change which blew the land

the forest glades

the purbeck lands and golden sands

the friends and family gathered around

the merry trips to London town

the Xmas cakes and chocolate logs

the memories left out in the fog

the tunes we sang

the ropes we spun

oh the joys and innocence of the young.

KNIGHTS AND MAIDENS

He nestled in her sanctuary where he found his resting place

his ardor was bitten and he knew at last his place

all her wayward wishes were raised and sanctified

he offered her his Lancelot for she was betrothed to be his bride...

she offered him her fruits of vine with wine a running free

her heart was rich in comforts then and her sanctuary by the sea

her refuge she had chosen well within his palace gates

he held her in his arms that night made love in time n space

her sailors had all left the crew except one boatman rich

he was smiling in his palace gate as her Sprite flame he lit

her sultry ways were crafted then as the love from her it flowed

she was transformed in Ecstasy and gave her heart so free n bold

there within the forest walk the gardens were in bloom

the petals were so rich in dew and their blossoms were in bloom

he knelt and prayed for love and trust and offered her his kiss

within the secrets of the night he kissed her sultry sweetest lips

her boatman rose and sighed with care so tender was his speech

the waters of the sanctuary gave all their springs as one

when soaring breeze and summer sneeze gave way to falling leaves

the harvest then was rich and free within her enterprise

he saw the light that perfect night as he looked into her eyes

the knight was raised his Lancelot high and the maiden was released and free.

 GIRL IN A MILLION

pretty as a picture

candid camera show

girl in a million

my sweetheart dont you know

shy and bashful

on occasion

a lady on the town

sweetheart in my arms

she wears the lovers crown

smile to sink a battleship

eyes to send you wild

a woman in a million

inside a little child.

REBELS IN LOVE

she was the captains daughter

he was the lord mayors son

they meet in strange circumstances

when they were on the run

she was a fair maid

a traitor to the cause

he was a rebel spokesman

didn't like the laws

they met one night in Bombay

just before the war

he had sold his future

she was friendly with the whores

they met in darkness alley

and shared a tale or two

he was lost to reason

and she was trouble too

they sailed upon the oceans

to Indian shores

she was cute and sexy

never wore no drawers

he was tall and randy

she suited him just fine

together they sailed the ocean waves

and drank a lot of wine

their friends were fine n dandy

pirates and outlaws

they fought the roving battles

for any noble cause

their ship was called the enterprise

though they didn't have a plan

they took on many a pirate

and many an old deckhand

the weather it was stormy

they all got lost at sea

they found themselves an island

and lived there fancy free

they had two dozen children

they all grew up so fine

they sold the coconuts to the natives

and fermented wine.

BRIDAL VERSE

when the mind wonders and the words don't seem to flow

just think of me sometime and the places we would go

when your thoughts lay drifting oer the wonders of this world

don't look for wisdom there in every line cause ya know its quite absurd

when your cast in glories anthems and the sonnets they do flow

just be grateful for the poet bards of a long long time ago

when you think you've heard a whisper there upon the seven seas

be grateful for a poet because hes begging on his knees

when the light you shine still flickers within your dreams again

just be honest in your wonderings and your journeys across the plains

for theres thruth in every stanzas that the storyteller wrote

as he composed his symphony of words so beautifully eloped

though you may be outcast within these reels of rhyme

your never truly lost if your love is on the vine

for the petals of the blossoms state that love is sanctified

when romance is on the wings of love and your his dearest bride.

country gal

she was a love of mine

a beauty and a rose

she offered me her friendship

and words that shed composed

she was born within the sunshines rays

and raised up in power

she was an angel of mercy

and a prairie flower

her mother was a baker

and her father was a judge

her brothers were all boxers

and each one held a grudge

i loved her in the springtime

when buds were on the trees

i loved her in the meadows

she had me on my knees

i loved her in the straw

i loved her in the fall

she was pretty as a picture

and her frame was heaven sent

she captured up my innocence

and offered me her scent

she went to church on Sundays

and read the bible quotes

she was such an angel

and she kept a nanny goat

she made love on Mondays

and she booked it in her notes

she was playful as the fairies

and as neat and so composed

kept me on my toes

she wore frilly dresses

and Lacey underclothes

she was a lady in the daylight

and at night she was a rose

she tied her hair in ribbons

and she had me in her spell

i was just a country boy

and it was for her i fell

she was sentimental

spoke words of diction too

took me in the hayrick

took me for a fool

her neck was majestic and her body too

she played games with my heart

and took away my blues

she was quick with her affections

fast with her touch

she gave me comfort in the daytime

but at night she was too much

she was styled in cute perfection

right down to her toes

she was perfect in her demeanor

and rare beneath her clothes

the parsons son was jealous

though he didn't throw a line

just asked us where wed been

and did we have a good time

the church bells they were ringing

and the meadows they were green

we heard it from a distance

the night of Halloween

she was precious in her movements

and she was free with her caress

she loved to share her feelings

that much i can confess

the night was full of starlight

and the moon was all aglow

as we lay there in the hayloft

we had nowhere else to go

the moral of my story

the wisdom of my tale

don't go off to the haystacks

with just a country gal.

GALLOPPING HORSES

Just like galloping horses

across the prairie lands

like the whistling of the winds

love cannot understand

just like pinto stallions

brushed n rare n free

you ride the hills of love

then you come home to me

like a whispering maiden

you whisper soft n low

through the hills and the canyons

like the stagecoaches long ago

across the Indian country

through future reservations plains

you ride like galloping horses

then you whisper just my name

just like coyote country

afore the western territory

the buckboards n the wagons

the cactus ridden trails

across the wide Missouri

down to the duck-wood creek

across the blessed river

your fortune for to seek

just like galloping horses

afore the hide was laid

the stetson and the saddles

the cowpokes country maid

you rode the prairies daily

the wagon trains and dust

the Oklahoma badlands

where no one could you trust

through wild and Indian territory

where smoke signals were relayed

they smoked their pipes of peace

afore their warriors graves

high up above the Rockies

the sun beat down so free

you rode the hills of hope and tears

then just like galloping horses

you found your way home to me.

battlefields of love

I'm stranded on these battlefields

with the enemy in my face

no room for hope and valor

thoughts and reasons all misplaced

Ive conquered all those victories

somewheres down the line

there's a heart full of confusions

love left far behind

brides all left revisited

on some far distant plain

where hope bleeds out eternal

in these lovesick games

in a caricature of thoughtlessness

wastelands on that road

somewheres between the road to vanity

of jest and dare and mode

all love was promised faithfully

yet in life its all destined

lost out to fantasy moments

somewheres down the line.

DORSET POET

I'm not a doctor of philosophy

don't have a science lettered PhD

have no need for master degrees or dips in the common touch

I'm just a lonesome poet here with no need for a crutch

I'm not into perfect vision and all that spinning rhyme

my handle is my motive and i read your every line

the master tactician he wrote a phrase for me

but i was lost in romance out upon the seas

the durzet broads they taught me to love and to frequent

the sidewalks and the rivers for sources of lament

so i took my candles with me and i strolled there in the dark

waiting for the spark of life and somewheres there to park

i counted all my blessings rounded all my lines

then i wrote her words in sonnets every single rhyme

though her eyes they were so dreamy and her breasts left me ablaze

i squandered thoughts and interludes until my heart she saved

her magic hands they touched my soul and her kisses thrilled me so

i held her in the moonlight close and would not let her go

through troubled past id frequent with weary songs of woe

i cherished on her ruby lips and there i loved her so.
