‘Life, Leaves, Leaving’

Trees change every season,

From bristling, to bountiful, to bare,

They move in circles of life and death,

From ravaged to ravishingly fair,

But leaves will return after they fall,

The new flourishes where the old grew,

and we remember that they will,

but forget what we new,

when we come to change in our lives,

when we leave a place we love,

when we travel away from our home,

when we travel into the mist,

we think of what we have lost,

what is gone and dead and done,

but forget the light returns,

and shines on all anew
