If your going to appleby fair in the British summertime

remember me to one who lives there she was once a good friend of mine

if your going in the breezy weather when the perfumes on the heather

God bless the gypsy folki there and say a prayer for Rosie

 

Oh the horses were grand you understand with colts for to wonder

the grass was green and the streams were wide and with wonders on the side of the lord

oh the children danced and the folks did sing and the weather it was awesome

 

With the sun so bright until the night but the sights were grand you understand

with livestock and fair trappings with vardos Serene and old men's dreams

to send your hopes a packing with rides and bairns and tales to send

 

the crowds were high in numbers with talk and rides to satisfy

at appleby in the summer.
